| The best reason not to lose your student
card: you can ride the bus for free with it. Thanks to the University of Guelph, you too can be a bus hobo.
Transit Maps Online Why pay $2 for a bus map that you'll never manage to fold back up anyway, when you can look up the route you want online? This is the city's official site for the bus hobos--they won't steer you wrong. Oh No! The buses don't run all the time; unfortunately bus drivers tend to sleep at 2 am, just when you badly need a ride. When you're going out, don't forget that the city buses stop running so you might need a cab. From Monday to Saturday, the buses start in St. George's Square at 5:45am, and finish up there at 12:45 am. Sundays are worse: they start at 9:15am, and are done their routes at 6:45. So you might be out of luck, if you're in a hurry to get back for the Simpsons at 8 o'clock on Sunday. Special Buses Even though Guelph Transit isn't a late night service, the magic bus and the Ranch bus are there to help. They have set times to arrive in Mac circle, "on the half hour", or maybe on the hour...basically, whenever the bus driver feels like showing up. The magic bus is free, and the Ranch bus is $2. They're not covered by insurance unless you sign a waiver on the bus; don't worry, though. If there is a crash, and you ever want to sue them, how legally binding is a paper you signed with the wrong hand, while drunk, in the dark, with someone else's name, really going to be?? |
